Viktor Yanukovych, Vladimir Putin and Europe. The lecture will take place on Thursday November 28 at 4.00 PM in the Senate Room (Room 083), Tabaret Building, 75 Laurier St. E. and is meant to coincide with the first day of the EU Vilnius Summit which will determine whether Ukraine will sign or not an Association Agreement with the European Union. As has been amply reported in the news in the past several months, the main bone of contention remains the fate of former Ukraine Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

Taras Kuzio, a Research Associate at the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, is an internationally recognized expert on Ukrainian politics, with frequent commentaries and analyses of ongoing developments in a number of Web publications, including the Eurasian Daily Monitor and his blog at blog.taraskuzio.net. He recently co-edited Open Ukraine: Changing Course towards a European Future (Johns Hopkins University) and published articles in Demokratizatsiya, East European Politics & Societies, and the Journal of Contemporary European Studies. His book on the history of post-Soviet Ukraine will be published soon.

The campus map can be accessed at http://www.uottawa.ca/maps/. The Tabaret Building is identified on the map as “TBT” and is located at the intersection of Waller, and Laurier, across from the Desmarais Building.
