Students in the departments of Political Science, History, Economics, Sociology and Anthropology, or the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs who are studying Russian or researching Russian&nbsp; relations with the outside world (for instance: Russia\u2019s relations with European Union or the former Soviet space) are also entitled to apply for Magna funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awards will not normally exceed $2000 dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"eligibility-and-criteria\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility and criteria:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This bursary may be awarded to students for field research, language training, or other legitimate scholarly travel expenses; for example, presentations at conferences or workshops. Recipients will be chosen by a Committee struck by the Dean of the Faculty of Public Affairs. The committee will include Dr. Piotr Dutkiewicz (Magna Fund Coordinator).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: The Magna Bursary for Russian Studies can only be awarded <strong>once<\/strong> to a student during his\/her degree program (i.e., one award during a BA degree, one award during an MA degree, and one award during a PhD degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"applications-should-include\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applications should include:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 A short letter of application (max. one page), outlining the importance of the travel and purpose of the bursary;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 For conference or workshop participation, an abstract of the paper and indication of acceptance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>of the paper by the conference organizers;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 A listing of other support that is expected or has been applied for and justification of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>amount requested from the Magna Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"application-deadline-february-1-2014\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application deadline: February 1, 2014.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Please send your application to Krysia Kotarba, EURUS Administrator, River Building 3304, or by email at <a href=\"mailto:krysia.kotarba@carleton.ca\">krysia.kotarba@carleton.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further information is available from Professor Piotr Dutkiewicz, <a href=\"mailto:piotr_dutkiewicz@carleton.ca\">piotr.dutkiewicz@carleton.ca<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This bursary is generously supported by Magna Fund for Russian Studies based in the Faculty of Public Affairs at Carleton University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Magna Bursary for Russian Studies Magna Bursaries for Russian Studies are awarded annually to ten or more outstanding graduate and\/or advanced undergraduate students in the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS).
