The Eastern European and Transnational Network (EETN) is seeking highly motivated Research Assistants (RAs) to contribute to a dynamic and interdisciplinary research project focused on critical issues in European, Eurasian, and Arctic Security and Defence. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside leading experts, engage in cutting-edge research, and contribute to shaping Canadian foreign and defence policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the EETN:<\/strong>
\nThe Eastern European and Transnational Network (EETN) is a multidisciplinary research initiative dedicated to understanding the complex political, economic, and societal shifts in Europe, Eurasia, and the Arctic, particularly in the context of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. EETN aims to provide critical Canadian perspectives on these issues and offer policy-relevant recommendations to inform Canadian foreign and defense policy and the Canadian public at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The network engages with regional partners, policymakers, and experts to produce high-quality research and foster a new generation of scholars and practitioners. EETN is committed to promoting diversity, inclusivity, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EETN seeks several research assistants, whose responsibilities might include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Assist with literature reviews, data collection, and analysis on topics related to European, Eurasian, and Arctic security, politics, and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Collect and analyze data from various sources, including academic literature, government reports, and media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Contribute to the development of research methodologies and data analysis techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Support the organization and logistics of conferences, workshops, and other events, including participant registration, scheduling, and material preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Assist with the development and dissemination of research findings through various channels, including the EETN website, social media, blogs, and newsletters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Create content to enhance social media posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Proofread and edit policy briefs, white papers, reports and other written content before publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Undergraduate or graduate students in relevant fields such as regional studies, political science, international relations, history, or related disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Strong research skills, including the ability to conduct literature reviews, analyze data, and write clear and concise reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and research databases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Experience in Canva and WordPress<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, BluSky) and the ability to create engaging content<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Strong organizational and time management skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
