Some courses that focus on quantitative research may take place in a computer lab. This allows students to become actively engaged in data analysis using various statistical software packages (i.e., SPSS, SAS, MPLUS, AMOS, etc.). Moreover, many instructors endorse active in-class activities. For example, Smith (1998) provides a list of 20 projects that can be used in introductory statistics courses that include collecting data, running analyses, and summarizing results.
