{"id":956,"date":"2013-10-04T15:39:53","date_gmt":"2013-10-04T19:39:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/?page_id=956"},"modified":"2014-12-18T13:37:55","modified_gmt":"2014-12-18T18:37:55","slug":"visiting-researcher","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/glossary\/v\/visiting-researcher\/","title":{"rendered":"Visiting Appointments"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Visiting Appointments<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carleton.ca\/ci\/visiting-researcher\/\">Visiting Appointees<\/a> contribute to the Carleton community in a variety of ways including<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>adding to the intellectual capital of the university,<\/li>\n<li>collaboration partnerships with other world renowned institutions, and<\/li>\n<li>enhancing our international profile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Such appointments also provide significant and exciting opportunities allowing students to experience new perspectives and enhancing their learning.<\/p>\n<h3>Visiting Researcher<\/h3>\n<p>A Visiting Researcher is an established faculty member from another institution formally invited to the University to collaborate on a research project. If the individual is not a Canadian resident, a formal initiation must be offered through Carleton International. As part of the arrangement, the visiting researcher may be offered a monthly stipend to cover the cost of living in addition to any related travel and accommodation support. If the visiting researcher is receiving a stipend from a Tri-Agency grant, the amount is restricted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca\/Professors-Professeurs\/FinancialAdminGuide-GuideAdminFinancier\/FundsUse-UtilisationSubventions_eng.asp#preamble\" target=\"_blank\">Agency<\/a> guidelines.<\/p>\n<h3>Visiting Professor<\/h3>\n<p>A professor who is normally on temporary leave from his\/her permanent position at a university and who is invited to teach a course at Carleton University in an area of established expertise.\u00a0 He\/she may choose to engage in other projects at Carlton during the term of his\/her position at Carleton.<\/p>\n<h3>Visiting Scholar<\/h3>\n<p>An instructor who is normally on temporary leave from his\/her permanent position at another institution and who is invited to teach a course at Carleton University in an area of established expertise.\u00a0 He\/she may choose to engage in other projects at Carlton during the term of his\/her position at Carleton.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Visiting Appointments Visiting Appointees contribute to the Carleton community in a variety of ways including adding to the intellectual capital of the university, collaboration partnerships with other world renowned institutions, and enhancing our international profile.
