{"id":972,"date":"2013-10-04T15:47:10","date_gmt":"2013-10-04T19:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/?page_id=972"},"modified":"2025-04-17T13:23:54","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T17:23:54","slug":"year-end","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/glossary\/y\/year-end\/","title":{"rendered":"Year End"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>What is it?<\/h3>\n<p>The established 12-month period of time that an organization or government uses for accounting purposes and\/or reporting.\u00a0While &#8216;year end&#8217;\u00a0may refer to\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/glossary\/f\/fiscal-year\/\">fiscal year<\/a> end, the university operates in the context of many \u201cyear ends\u201d.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For the university as a whole, our fiscal year is May 1<sup>st<\/sup> to April 30<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<li>For many research and other government grants received by the university, the fiscal year on which we report is April 1<sup>st<\/sup> to March 31<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<li>There is also the calendar year end, on which the university tracks and reports payroll earning and withholding amounts for its employees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is it?
