{"id":4200,"date":"2016-05-16T11:09:46","date_gmt":"2016-05-16T15:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/?p=4200"},"modified":"2023-01-04T15:45:41","modified_gmt":"2023-01-04T20:45:41","slug":"tips-financial-services-insider-eshop-tools-support-training-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/2016\/tips-financial-services-insider-eshop-tools-support-training-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Tips from a Financial Services Insider: eShop Tools, Support, Training (#1 of 6)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>eShop Tools, Support and Training: hands-on classroom style training<\/h3>\n<p>As the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tac\/category\/2016\/tuesday-may-3\/?submit=view#20\">\u2018eshop: June 30<sup>th<\/sup> is coming!\u2019<\/a> notices make their way through the Carleton community, people naturally have many questions.\u00a0 In this series of tips, I will share the answers to the most commonly asked eShop questions.<\/p>\n<h3>Question #1: June 30 is just around the corner, where can I find the support I need to learn how to use eShop?<\/h3>\n<p>The answer to this question depends on you.\u00a0 There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to providing support for a new system.\u00a0 We\u2019ve developed training \u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/cu-events\/\">for those who prefer hands-on classroom style training<\/a>, and<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/eshop\/\">for those who want to learn the system on their own.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this week\u2019s tip, I will outline the options for those who prefer hands-on classroom style training.<\/p>\n<h3>How does the hands-on classroom style training work?<\/h3>\n<p>The training has been designed as a \u2018choose your own adventure\u2019 to minimize the amount to time you\u2019ll spend in the classroom.\u00a0 We recommend that you \u2026<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Take eShop 101 (2 hrs)<\/li>\n<li>Get into eShop and try it out<\/li>\n<li>Sign up for any advanced session\/s (30 min each) which\u00a0 relate to your job<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"Also%20keep%20in%20mind%20that%20little%20has%20changed%20in%20terms%20of%20what%20the%20paper%20forms%20are%20for%20or%20how%20they%20are%20used.%20%20For%20example,%20if%20you%20know%20what%20a%20paper%20cheque%20requisition%20form%20is%20for,%20you%20know%20what%20the%20eShop%20cheque%20requisition%20form%20is%20for.%20%20http:\/carleton.ca\/facts\/eshop\/\">Use the online tools as refreshers anytime you need them<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>What is available?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eshop 101: 2 hour introductory system training to get you started with eShop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Advanced Sessions <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These short sessions focus on a particular topic.\u00a0 They are 30 minutes each.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Approvals<\/strong>: Explains the approval process, including when and how you might edit a requisition that is awaiting your approval.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Paying Independent Contractors:<\/strong> Explains how to pay an independent contractor using a cheque requisition in eShop.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Requisitions to Internal Service Providers: <\/strong>Explains the workflow for catalogue and form orders for internal service providers, including the process for estimates, withdrawals and cancellations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sharing and Assigning Carts<\/strong>: Delves into when and why a user may decide to assign a shopping cart to another requisitioner.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shopping and Cart Tips<\/strong>: Provides shopping tips, including how to manage multiple carts at the same time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All about FOAPALS<\/strong>: Explains how FOAPALS are used in eShop, including the new funding shortcode called an index.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Receipts for Large Dollar Purchases:<\/strong> Explains the new process for creating a receipt when orders are received for purchases valued at $10,000 or more.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purchase Requisitions and eQuotes<\/strong>: Shows you how to make non-catalogue purchases using the Purchase Requisition Form and explains how this form will replace the current paper Purchase Order Requisition Form. We will also explore eQuote functionality provided by certain punchout vendors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How do I find out more about this training and\/or register?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Visit Carleton Central.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>To find these sessions in Carleton Central choose the \u2018Employee Services Tab\u2019, \u2018Learning and Development\u2019 option, \u2018Workshop Registration\u2019 and \u2018FACTS\u2019 from the drop down menu.
