The Financial Information Systems team would like to share some of the common errors we\u2019ve seen and the questions we\u2019ve been asked.<\/p>\n<p>An \u2018index\u2019 is a short code for the Fund, Org and Program portions of the FOAPAL accounting string.\u00a0 Most of Carleton\u2019s financial administrative systems use index to identify the source of funding.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6823 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/wp-content\/uploads\/WhatIsAnIndex.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"617\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/wp-content\/uploads\/WhatIsAnIndex.png 617w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/wp-content\/uploads\/WhatIsAnIndex-240x123.png 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/wp-content\/uploads\/WhatIsAnIndex-400x204.png 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/wp-content\/uploads\/WhatIsAnIndex-160x82.png 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/wp-content\/uploads\/WhatIsAnIndex-360x184.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 617px) 100vw, 617px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>What is a default index?\u00a0 How do I request a change?<\/h3>\n<p>The pre-populated default index is automatically applied to all of your reports.\u00a0 There\u2019s a how-to sheet that will walk you through how to <strong>check your default index<\/strong> called <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/facts\/travel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u2018Important Tasks to Complete in your Profile\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In SAP Concur, default indexes are departmental.\u00a0 If the pre-populated default index is incorrect or not the source of funding you use most often, email <a href=\"m&#97;&#105;&#108;&#x74;&#x6f;&#x3a;fi&#110;&#97;&#x6e;&#x63;&#x69;&#x61;l&#46;&#115;&#121;&#x73;&#x74;&#x65;&#x6d;s&#64;&#99;&#97;&#x72;&#x6c;&#x65;to&#110;&#46;&#99;&#x61;\">&#102;&#x69;&#x6e;a&#110;&#x63;i&#97;&#x6c;&#x2e;s&#121;&#x73;t&#101;&#x6d;&#x73;&#64;&#99;&#x61;r&#108;&#x65;&#x74;&#111;&#110;&#x2e;c&#97;<\/a> to change it.<\/p>\n<h3>Can I change the default index at the report level?<\/h3>\n<p>Yes!\u00a0 There are two ways to change the default index at the report level \u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The easiest way to change the index for an ENTIRE report is in the header.
