Precarity and the Crisis of Social Reproduction

In this talk I examine the experiences, grievances and demands of precarious workers employed in social reproductive sectors. I show that predominant theories of precarious labour underappreciate the urgency and immediacy of these workers’ concern with the necessary conditions of life. I argue that recognizing the centrality of social reproduction in crisis improves our understanding of precarity and, more importantly, the ways to oppose and contest it.
