The PhD program in Cultural Mediations is intended to announce two emphases within its fields of study. The first of these is the way in which all cultural practices are mediated by the wider contexts in which they are embedded, along with the way in which they in turn mediate our relationship as readers, spectators or listeners with our lived experience.

Secondly, the title refers to the formal and stylistic links between various kinds of cultural practices. The program will concern itself with what readers, spectators and listeners do with cultural phenomena, how they understand them and the relationships between them, and how these phenomena express people’s relationship to the world.
