The FASS Undergraduate Summer Research Internship program is now accepting applications for Summer 2019. This initiative invites students to submit a research proposal for a project that they wish to work on during the summer of 2019 in collaboration with a permanent faculty member in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The 1-page research proposal must be supported by a statement from the faculty member who will be supervising the project.
Student proposals must be clearly distinct from the faculty member’s ongoing research program. Students should also submit their resume, a copy of their audit, and a 1-page cover letter, setting out the project they would like to research and what skills and experiences they hope to gain through this program.
To be eligible, students must have completed at least 2ndyear of their undergraduate program, have a minimum CGPA of 8.0 and be taking a program and/or a major in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Students who are graduating in June 2019 are also eligible.
Students cannot hold two funded positions in different faculties, and students can only hold this internship once during their undergraduate degree.
Students will receive a stipend of $7500 (including 4% vacation pay) over the course of the summer. The expectation is that the research project undertaken will constitute a full-time position during the summer term.
In Fall 2019, students will present their completed research projects at a FASS reception held in their honour, and provide a 500 word summary of the research, to be posted on the FASS website.
Applications should be sent in one file via email to the Associate Dean (Student Affairs), Anne Bowker firstname.lastname@example.org, copying Allyson Buchanan-Watson (email@example.com by March 11, 2019.
