SUMMARY:Book Launch - Reimagining Modernity and the Western State: New Ways of Looking at Recent History
DESCRIPTION:Join the History Undergraduate Society (HUgS) for the launch of Reimagining Modernity and the Western State: New Ways of Looking at Recent History, an edited collection focusing on showcasing and celebrating undergraduate contributions to history as a discipline.“HISTORY can be a challenging, daunting, yet exciting, exhilarating, and passion-filled pursuit. It is my belief that spreading the work of historians and history students alike is a fundamental and fulfilling initiative that allows us to foster new insights into the past, yet also an ardour in the hearts of students and budding intellectuals. This is the goal of Reimagining Modernity and the Western State: New Ways of Looking at Recent History: to provide undergraduates the ability to share their voices and insights into wider studies and quandaries in the fields of history and the social sciences. As new generations of writers and scholars enter into the study of the past, they bring with them novel positions and awarenesses that prove to be at the horizon of history as a discipline, furthering our knowledge and passion for the past. By providing this opportunity, Reimagining Modernity and the Western State hopes to act as a medium to showcase these horizons and instil a deeper recognition of and appreciation for the work of undergraduate historians.” - Athena Mosley, “Editor’s Introduction”A digital sneak-peak of the edited collection can be found here at https://doi.org/10.22215/cstrr/e26101Come celebrate with us and have tea and snacks on Thursday, April 2nd from 6:00-8:00 pm at Paterson Hall 433 (History Department Lounge).
