She is interested in philosophy, European and classical literature, ecology, environmental science, and wildlife biology. Avarey is the secretary of the Humanities Academic Success Society, and an editor of Ipso Facto: The Carleton Journal of Interdisciplinary Humanities. In her free time, Avarey enjoys bouldering, swimming, reading, and writing.
