What does a CUSA FASS Councillor do?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each FASS Councillor occupies a seat on the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA)<\/a> Council. Their role on the Council is to represent the needs and interests of all students enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councillors vote on student issues ranging from equity, inclusion, diversity, social justice stances, tuition fee increases, student fees, and more. These votes result in direct action on these issues, which can take the form of protest, new CUSA policies, and meetings with Faculty Deans, Carleton President Benoit-Antoine Bacon, and executive board members of the University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS) has eight possible council seats, which is the most amount of collective votes on the entire CUSA Council. There are currently seven seats occupied, with one seat yet to be filled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Message from your Councillors: Goals for 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Engage<\/strong>: Your 2022-23 FASS Councillors want to gain input and foster a sense of community within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. We are committed to increasing student engagement by highlighting FASS student associations and clubs through a new Instagram account (@fass_cusa<\/a>). Additionally, FASS programs without any existing associations or clubs, but who are interested in starting one, can reach out to us for help in getting a new group set up and registered with CUSA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inform<\/strong>: Using our Instagram account (@fass_cusa<\/a>), we want to ensure that every FASS student is up-to-date on the current happenings within their program associations and clubs, as well as the latest news from CUSA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concerns<\/strong>: CUSA FASS Councillors aim to be available and hands-on to help with any issues that FASS students are experiencing. We have voting powers which can result in direct change ordered from the university, and want to use this privilege to serve and benefit FASS students in a positive way. Note: FASS Councillors can only assist with concerns specifically related to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Students dealing with issues around other university services (i.e. health insurance, tuition, academic advising, ombudsman) will be redirected to relevant resources and campus offices.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
