{"id":47640,"date":"2024-03-12T20:17:37","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T20:17:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/?p=47640"},"modified":"2024-08-09T07:40:54","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T11:40:54","slug":"fass-faculty-members-receive-sshrc-connection-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/2024\/fass-faculty-members-receive-sshrc-connection-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"FASS Faculty Members Receive SSHRC Connection Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"w-screen px-6 cu-section cu-section--white ml-offset-center md:px-8 lg:px-14\">\n    <div class=\"space-y-6 cu-max-w-child-5xl  md:space-y-10 cu-prose-first-last\">\n\n            <div class=\"cu-textmedia flex flex-col lg:flex-row mx-auto gap-6 md:gap-10 my-6 md:my-12 first:mt-0 max-w-5xl\">\n        <div class=\"justify-start cu-textmedia-content cu-prose-first-last\" style=\"flex: 0 0 100%;\">\n            <header class=\"font-light prose-xl cu-pageheader md:prose-2xl cu-component-updated cu-prose-first-last\">\n                                    <h1 class=\"cu-prose-first-last font-semibold !mt-2 mb-4 md:mb-6 relative after:absolute after:h-px after:bottom-0 after:bg-cu-red after:left-px text-3xl md:text-4xl lg:text-5xl lg:leading-[3.5rem] pb-5 after:w-10 text-cu-black-700 not-prose\">\n                        FASS Faculty Members Receive SSHRC Connection Grants\n                    <\/h1>\n                \n                                \n                            <\/header>\n\n                    <\/div>\n\n            <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to the following FASS faculty members who were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca\/results-resultats\/recipients-recipiendaires\/2023\/cg-sc-nov2023-eng.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">awarded Connection Grants<\/a> in the November 2023 competition:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Barbara Leckie (English Language and Literature)<\/strong>, along with a co-applicant at the University of Ottawa, received funding for their project titled <strong>\u201cCommon Sense: Planetary Curriculums for a Planetary Commons<\/strong>.\u201d The project will be a six-part podcast series that revives, reframes, and amplifies the idea of the commons for this moment of climate peril.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jo-Anne Lefevre (Cognitive Science)<\/strong> and Carleton colleagues <strong>Heather Douglas<\/strong> and <strong>Rebecca Merkley<\/strong>, along with co-applicants and collaborators from four other institutions, were funded for the project \u201c<strong>Multiplying Student Success in Early Mathematics: Insights from Research-Practice Partnerships<\/strong>.\u201d The grant will fund a summit of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aimcollective.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Assessment and Intervention for Mathematics (AIM) Collective<\/a>, a growing community of researchers and educators committed to developing, testing, and sharing math assessment and instruction resources for students ranging from kindergarten to Grade 4.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Emilie Urbain (French and Linguistics and Language Studies)<\/strong>, as well as Carleton colleagues <strong>Angel Arias<\/strong>, <strong>Jaffer Sheyholislami<\/strong> and <strong>Rachelle Vessey<\/strong> and a colleague at Simon Fraser University, were funded for the project \u201c<strong>Multidisciplinary Approaches in Language Policy and Planning \u2013 Diversities, Discourses, and Digitalization<\/strong>.\u201d The grant will support the next edition of the conference series Multidisciplinary Approaches in Language Policy in Planning, to be held at Carleton University in June 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca\/funding-financement\/programs-programmes\/connection_grants-subventions_connexion-eng.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Connection Grant<\/a> is pleased to support events and outreach activities geared towards short-term, targeted knowledge mobilization initiatives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to the following FASS faculty members who were awarded Connection Grants in the November 2023 competition:&nbsp;
