Using a data-driven approach, this project will identify essential academic writing skills to support student success in the increasingly digital and varied academic landscape. Chlo\u00eb&#8217;s expertise in writing studies and student engagement informs this work, as she aims to build a targeted writing strategies course attuned to the diverse needs of Carleton\u2019s students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James McGowan<\/strong><br>Studies in Art and Culture &#8211; Music<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/provost\/wp-content\/uploads\/James-McGowan-e1709754571999.jpg\" alt=\"James McGowan\"\/><figcaption>James McGowan<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Digital Music Literacy in Scholarship and Pedagogy<\/em><br><br>University music programs often foreground European-originated music notation and cultural traditions more than other global and contemporary practices, excluding those without previous specialized study of Western art music. This project explores the pedagogical state of digital music literacy by contributing to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) in the field, and will create and curate inclusive, technology-focused curricula and instructional resources\u2014including digital audio workstations, sound synthesis, and AI tools for music creation and analysis\u2014using lenses of decolonization and EDI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"contract-instructor-teaching-awards\" class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Contract Instructor Teaching Awards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Christopher Eaket<\/strong><br>English Language and Literature; College of the Humanities&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/eaket-4-e1709756454462.jpg\" alt=\"Christopher Eaket \" class=\"wp-image-47811\" width=\"215\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/eaket-4-e1709756454462.jpg 286w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/eaket-4-e1709756454462-200x217.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><figcaption>Christopher Eaket<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">Christopher is interested in the intersection between media and embodiment, the humanistic philosophies behind science fiction, and the politics of climate change. These courses are an ideal opportunity to enhance students\u2019 self-awareness and reflectivity and to de-stigmatize mental and substance use disorders.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<br><br>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"christopher_mcgrath\"><strong>Christopher McGrath<br><\/strong>Philosophy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christopher is interested in the historical development of and the systematic relationship between a cluster of themes that, he argues, are connected in an important way and constitute a certain tradition of philosophical reflection: the themes of aesthetics and the philosophy of art, the teleological and aesthetic experience of nature, and God and religion. He has primarily studied Aristotle, Hume, Kant, and Schleiermacher in this regard, and hope to broaden these studies historically.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to this year&#8217;s achievement award recipients!
