Do you have hard drives full of forgotten media fragments <\/strong>– vacation clips, unfinished projects, random phone videos and photos? Do you have a story you’ve always wanted to tell, but don’t know where to start?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton University, in collaboration with Wapikoni, is offering a Stories in Storage, a free audiovisual creation workshop for emerging Indigenous artists<\/strong> looking to get started on your own filmmaking projects. By participating, you will revisit your material and transform it into short, meaningful narrative pieces. Across three days, you will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Reflect on what material you have and what story you may want to tell<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Bolster your story with sound, music, effects, and narration<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Explore tone, pacing, and meaning through the editing process<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Learn by creating in a collaborative and culturally safe space<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Create a short finished film (approximately 5-10 minutes long)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the final day, you will have the opportunity to screen your work for a public audience.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stories in Storage is run by<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Greg Allison<\/strong>, photographer, video producer, and multi-instrumental musician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hasi Eldib<\/strong>, photographer, video producer, and independent documentary filmmaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both are digital media specialists who have previously run Indigenous-focused workshops in collaboration with Carleton University and Wapikoni, helping new and emerging artists bring their work to life onscreen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meals will be provided. Smudging spaces will be available. All you need to bring is your ideas and enthusiasm!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
