Duane McNair

Vice-President (Finance and Administration)

Duane McNair joined Carleton University on December 2, 2024, as its Vice-President (Finance and Administration).

Duane has more than 24 years of senior leadership experience, most recently in his role as Vice-President (Finance and Administration) at Algonquin College. He has financial expertise and strategic management capabilities, with a proven track record in higher education administration.

At Algonquin, he led significant strategic initiatives that improved financial health and operational efficiency, including the development of the DARE District and the Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation Centre, which substantially enhanced the campus environment. His commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and employee development has been pivotal in these achievements, while his advocacy for Truth and Reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility align with Carleton’s values and mission.

With extensive experience working within the constraints of a public institution and his strong relationships with government officials, Duane is well equipped to navigate the complex financial and administrative landscape of Ontario’s post-secondary education sector effectively and efficiently.

Duane holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, Master of Business Administration from Laurentian University, and holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
