Join us at the Institute of Women\u2019s and Gender Studies on Thursday Oct 1, 1-2 pm<\/strong>, as we kick off our Feminist Futures events for this year with a discussion of the Scholar Strike Canada<\/a> electronic teach-ins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you watched the teach-ins but didn\u2019t have a chance to discuss them with anyone because you were home alone with your screen, or you didn\u2019t get a chance to watch but had planned to do so, now\u2019s your opportunity for a review with company!  This will be an open facilitated discussion \u2013 no presentations \u2013 in which you can share your thoughts and feelings about these amazing presentations \u2013 and about the current state of struggles against racism and white supremacy in our universities and in the world more broadly.  And you are welcome to show up just to listen in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although I hope we can compare notes on what we found interesting \u2013 like a review session \u2013 for purposes of our intersectional work at the PJIWGS, you might find particularly interesting the sessions on gender, such as \u201cGender, Colonialism and Anti-Black Police Racist Violence<\/a>\u201d and \u201cBlack Tax and the Invisible Labour of Black Women in the Academy<\/a>,\u201d and\/or sessions that take up Black\/Indigenous relations, such as \u201cCo-Conspiring Against Carceral Systems<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are in the process of planning other Feminist Futures events for the fall, including a workshop with Jennifer Nash, author of Black Feminism Reimagined, who was going to be our Flo Bird speaker last March, on Thurs Nov 19, 1-2 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
