During her tenure, she was instrumental in the renaming of the institute, guiding the transition from the former name to the Feminist Institute of Social Transformation. This change reflected a broader, more inclusive vision that encompassed not only women\u2019s and gender studies but also <span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fist\/sexuality-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sexuality Studies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fist\/disability-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disability Studies<\/a> (<em>est. 2018<\/em>), and <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fist\/critical-race-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Critical Race Studies<\/a> (<em>est. 2021<\/em>)<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leading up to 2019, she was the Ellen Clayton Garwood Centennial Professor of English and Professor of Women\u2019s and Gender Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She is the author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.proquest.com\/docview\/2447125005?parentSessionId=DC9A6vIeG%2BJoeEcyVkbVsvc6f9hzpx%2ByZa8fky5%2By0I%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Mixed Feelings: Feminism, Mass Culture, and Victorian Sensationalism<\/em><\/a> (<em>Rutgers, 1992<\/em>); <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dukeupress.edu\/an-archive-of-feelings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>An Archive of Feelings: Trauma, Sexuality, and Lesbian Public Cultures<\/em><\/a> (<em>Duke, 2003<\/em>); and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dukeupress.edu\/depression\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Depression: A Public Feeling<\/em> <\/a>(<em>Duke, 2012<\/em>).&nbsp; She co-edited (<em>with Ann Pellegrini<\/em>) \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/sfonline.barnard.edu\/ps\/intro.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Public Sentiments<\/a>,\u201d a special issue of <em>The Scholar and Feminist Online<\/em>, and (with Janet Staiger and Ann Reynolds) <em>Political Emotions&nbsp;<\/em>(<em>Routledge, 2010<\/em>). She has been co-editor (<em>with Annamarie Jagose<\/em>) of <em>GLQ:&nbsp; A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies<\/em>.
