The Pauline Jewett Institute of Women’s and Gender Studies invites applications for a preliminary<\/strong>
\n(tenure-track)\/tenured position in the Institute at the rank of Associate Professor, to commence <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

July 1, <\/strong>2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We seek applicants with strong and broad backgrounds in critical theory and analysis whose scholarship
\nbridges one or more of the following: Disability Studies, Critical Race Theory, Sexuality Studies, and
\nTransnational Feminism. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the development of a new,
\ninnovative program designed to introduce Critical Diversity Studies as a major Institute component.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Academic Unit:
\n<\/strong>The Pauline Jewett Institute of Women’s and Gender Studies was established in 1987. For the past 30
\nyears, the Institute has fostered research and study, sponsored workshops and speakers, and promoted
\ndiscussion and debate on a diversity of issues related to gender, race, sexuality, disability, class, and
\nother axes of difference and identity. Our programs of study include BA (Honours), BA, and MA degrees.
\nWe also offer a Post-baccalaureate Diploma. The Institute is committed to achieving the highest
\nstandards of excellence in our teaching, research and scholarship. We work to encourage engaged,
\nintersectional thought from diverse perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifications:<\/strong>
\nDue to the open-ended nature of the hire, we are interested in candidates whose focus has been on
\ninterrogating hierarchy, inequality, equity, exclusion, inclusion, belonging, identity and identification.
\nCandidates will have a doctorate, a record of high-quality scholarly research leading to peer assessed
\npublications, and demonstrated excellence in teaching at both the graduate and the undergraduate
\nlevels. Evidence of an ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment, program
\ndevelopment experience, and the administrative skills required to direct an innovative program are a
\npriority. Areas of teaching will be determined based on the areas of expertise held by the successful
\ncandidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
