We are particularly inspired by abolitionists and community organizers like <a href=\"https:\/\/dashaunharrison.com\/\">Da\u2019Shaun Harrison<\/a>. Their book <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/670607\/belly-of-the-beast-by-dashaun-harrison\/\">Belly of the Beast: The Politics of Anti-Fatness as Anti-Blackness<\/a><\/em> (2021) calls on us to push past reform and build an entirely new world:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When thinking about abolition we also turn to <a href=\"https:\/\/movementresearch.org\/people\/morgan-bassichis\">Morgan Bassichis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lgbtfunders.org\/staffer\/alexander-lee\/\">Alexander Lee<\/a>, and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.deanspade.net\/\"> Dean Spade<\/a> (2015). Abolition is about breaking down, or destroying, what oppresses us. But it is also just as much concerned with building things that nourish us. How do we work to make it possible?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How do abolitionist struggles inform current politics and culture?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n        <\/dd>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n    <\/dl>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite submissions that call for the generative destruction of all systems of power (abolition) so that we can build systems that value all&nbsp;<em>bodyminds<\/em>&nbsp;and leave no one behind (transformation). We seek presentations that acknowledge the inevitability of harm and activate our capacity to feel it and heal it. Group presentations or activities are welcomed and encouraged.&nbsp;We are welcoming submissions in English, French, and American Sign Language.
