\n RSVP: Professor Birk Joins Panel for SPPA Students’ Anti-Racism Symposium\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

This Friday at noon, Dr. Manjeet Birk<\/a> will be taking part of the \u201cUnpacking: A Conversation Centering Lived Experiences of Racism\u201d panel. This panel is 1 of 2 panels part of the SPPA Students\u2019 Anti-Racism Symposium<\/a> \u2013 organized by the School of Public Policy and Administration Society and the SPPA Anti-Racism Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This symposium is a dedicated student-led panelist forum that centers on anti-racist knowledge mobilization and honours the lived experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Panelists will include SPPA students and diverse experts from the academia, non-profit, and public service sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nLocation: 2nd floor Conference room, Teraanga Commons<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will feature two panel discussions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panel 1 \u2013 Unpacking: A Conversation Centering Lived Experience of Racism<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This panel will recognize persons who have lived experiences of racism as knowledge sources, with the goal of providing BIPOC students\/employees with relevant skills and resources. In addition, the discussion will seek to raise broader awareness about the realities of racism and opportunities for change, acknowledging that everyone has a stake in anti-racist work<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panel 2 \u2013 Unlearning: A Conversation on Institutional and Systemic Change<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This panel seeks to understand anti-racism using a macro lens of analysis. Recognizing that power is fundamentally and systemically embedded in institutions, the discussion aims to investigate institutional unlearning by highlighting institutional responsibility in effecting change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
