The next time you see a vending machine at Carleton University look for a flashing green or red light on the top of the machine. That is a sensor that shuts down lighting and adjusts the refrigeration settings when no one is around. In a project funded by Dining Services all 195 vending machines will be fitted with vending misers this fall.

Through this project, Carleton University will save about $22,700 a year in electricity costs.
