Commute Ontario has launched!

Carleton University has teamed up with Commute Ontario to offer faculty, staff and students with commuting programs that focus on healthy, active and sustainable transportation modes (i.e. walking, cycling, carpooling & taking transit). In addition, campaigns are offered throughout the year through which faculty, staff and students have a chance to WIN great prizes!

All Commute Ontario programs and campaigns can be accessed through the Carleton University Information Portal. Visit today to take the first steps towards a sustainable commute!

Programs include:

• Carpool Ontario – A state-of-the-art online ride-matching tool that helps users find people to carpool with. Carpool searches can be restricted to the campus or open to the community. Active users are automatically entered into a monthly prize draw. Visit to get started.

• Active Switch program – An on-line program that allows users to set goals and track their person powered transportation and recreation, including walking, cycling and more. Tracking activity is flexible and can be entered in steps, distance or time. Logging activity automatically enters participants into a monthly prize draw!

• Emergency Ride Home program (ERH) – This is Commute Ontario’s commuter insurance program – never worry about being stranded at work without a ride home. If you as a staff or a faculty member have an unforeseen emergency on a day when you used a sustainable method to commute to work, you could be eligible for up to $75 towards emergency transportation costs. Emergency Ride Home claims can be submitted from the Please note that the ERH program is only available to faculty and staff, and not students.

• Monthly Rewards Program – Carpool Ontario and Active Switch users are entered into monthly prize draws for choosing active and sustainable travel modes.
