The City of Ottawa has notified Carleton University that it is installing the pedestrian bridge over the Rideau River to Vincent Massey Park during the July 22 weekend.

Due to the scope of this work and to ensure the utmost safety measures are in place, please note the following:

  • Campus Avenue will be closed from Library Road to Raven Road from Thursday July 21 at 6 a.m. to Monday, July 25 at 6 p.m.
  • The area around Richcraft Hall will be off limits as a safety precaution and the building will be temporarily closed on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24.
  • Parking Lot 2 located at the University Centre, will be temporarily closed from July 21 to 25.
  • Parking Lot 6 will be used for crane and bridge staging from 6 a.m. July 13 to 6 p.m. July 25. Permit holders are redirected to P18 and P7 during this time period.

The City of Ottawa has confirmed that the bridge will not be open to public until the expansion work on the O-Train is completed in 2023. This is due to the proximity of the bridge to the construction zone around the train tracks.

The pedestrian bridge and the link to the broader Ottawa community is part of Carleton University’s Transportation Plan.
