The Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly and the Review of Policy Research will now be edited at Carleton University.

Finding funding in an economic downtown. Managing volunteers. The role of private foundations.

These concerns are shared by most organizations in the nonprofit and charity sector, and they’ve been the focus of research articles in The Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly.

The Quarterly will soon be affiliated with Carleton’s School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA) as Professor Susan Phillips takes the helm as a co-editor of the publication. It’s the official journal of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action. (ARNOVA)

“This is the premier international journal in this multidisciplinary field,” says Professor Phillips, who helped establish the Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership (MPNL) program. “It’s a perfect fit for Carleton because we have the only program of this kind in the country. It will give our program international visibility.”

In addition to the Quarterly, Carleton’s School of Public Policy and Administration is also welcoming the Review of Policy Research, which will be edited by Associate Professor Graeme Auld and is the official journal of the American Political Science Association’s Science, Technology and Environmental Politics section.

“Carleton has a long history and a strong record as an institution that prepares students to be future policymakers and innovative thought leaders on innovation, science and environmental policy,” explains Professor Auld.  “It’s thus a wonderful opportunity to host a significant international journal that so nicely complements one of our longstanding research and teaching strengths.”

The School of Public Policy and Administration is home to other journals, including Carleton Perspectives on Public Policy and Perspectives on Innovation, Science, and Environment. Both are peer-reviewed and student-run.
