Carleton University is mourning the loss of Journalism Professor Emeritus G. Stuart Adam, who died on December 26 at the age of 79.

Professor Adam spent almost 60 years at the university, beginning as an undergraduate in 1959. He went on to become a professor of journalism, as well as Director of the School of Journalism and Communication, the Dean of Arts, then the university’s Provost and Vice-President Academic.

“He had many gifts,” Susan Harada, Carleton’s Associate Director of the School of Journalism and Communication told the Ottawa Citizen. “Very gifted intellectually, a brilliant thinker and a gifted writer. He was a kind and generous man, generous with his time and ideas.”
