On May 8, 2020, Ted Jackson, SPPA faculty member and former associate dean (research and graduate affairs) in the Faculty of Public Affairs, was named the 2020 recipient of the Global Service Award of the Alumni Association of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.

The Institute confers the award to celebrate “an extraordinary individual for commitment to addressing the world’s social and humanitarian challenges with notable global impact.”

An OISE/UT graduate, Dr. Jackson has applied the principles of adult education and community development to a wide range of fields, including participatory research, program evaluation, non-profit studies, local governance, regional development, social enterprise, impact and gender-lens investing, and community-university partnerships, working in 60 countries over four decades.

“We are honored to celebrate your immense contribution, and thank you for being a positive role model for others,” wrote Dr. Glen Jones, Dean of the Institute, and Ms. Beth Concoran, Chair of the OISE Leaders and Legends Awards Committee.
