Grand Prize - People's Choice Winner

Diya Vekaria, Law

I visited Mondana, Ecuador with the ASB Team in 2019 to aid the ME to WE Organization in their water project. We helped build a classroom in a small town just outside the Amazon. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience that I will hold close to my heart forever.

Category Winner - Living Local

Anastasia Lettieri, Law

In February of 2020 I visited San Antonio, Guatemala through Carleton’s Alternative Spring Break program to strengthen my knowledge of environmental sustainability, and help students learn sustainable practices in their community. This photo was taken at the local elementary school during their welcoming ceremony and perfectly embodies the culture’s vibrancy, and the children’s abundance of love.

Category Winner - Friends And Fun

Bridget Collrin, Political Science

As part of Carleton’s new Dual MA degree in Political Science with Universität Luzern in Switzerland, I was able to meet people from every corner of the world while studying in an international environment, and had the incredible experience of taking many hikes around Vierwaldstättersee with my fellow international students and roommates. In this photo, we are representing four continents from (pictured left to right) Brazil, China, Canada and Germany! On this hike in particular organized by the international office, we were greeted at the peak by a local farmer who was offering regional cheese fondue with fresh pears and baked bread in a small barn which housed cows, chickens and a few friendly cats. An unforgettable opportunity to mark the beginning of my international experience!

Category Winner - Picture Perfect

Francis Finlayson, Global and International Studies

I interned at the Embassy of Canada to the United States in Washington, D.C., in Foreign and Defence Policy. I particularly enjoyed learning about the latest joint operations between the U.S. and Canada to promote common security, such as ballistic missile defence. This is the view from the Ambassador’s Terrace, at the top of the Embassy, facing the U.S. Capitol. The views are incredible from all angles.

Category Winner - In Action

Jenna Carter, NPSIA

This photo was taken at the speaker podium in the General Assembly during my internship at the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations. It was so inspiring to stand at the same podium that famous politicians and activists have stood to deliver seminal speeches on international peace and security.
