Bagels and Banter is a monthly opportunity to discuss shared research and teaching and learning topics with faculty members in a relaxed setting. Learn about new topics, teaching methods and potential research collaborations.

Bagels and Banter is open to all faculty and staff members and FPA graduate students.

February’s topic “Teaching Across Privilege in the Classroom” is presented by Mira Sucharov (Political Science).

How can we help students critically examine the debates around allyship, along with social justice culture, call-out culture, outrage culture and tone policing? These are questions Mira Sucharov has been working on as part of her FPA Teaching Fellowship. Through examining whiteness and other forms of privilege, she wants to develop tools to address the question of privilege and anti-oppression activism in diverse spaces, where privilege accrues in different ways for different students in the same classroom. This Bagels & Banter session will continue this work and is an opportunity for us, as teachers, to discuss ways of addressing privilege in our classrooms.
