This is a one-day workshop involving seven scholars. It will lead to a special issue in a leading peer-reviewed journal. The workshop will focus on C.L.R. James’ World Revolution, 1917–1936: The Rise and Fall of the Communist International, a new edition of which has recently been published by Duke University Press. Presenters hail from three countries and re-present a variety of disciplinary backgrounds, including law, history, and political science. James’ World Revolution will provide a common point of reference for the workshop, situating each of the papers that is presented in direct dialogue.
