Dillon A. Baker is a graduate student at the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs specializing in international economic policy. Her research pertains to the intersections of politics and economics, specifically interactions between government and business and how the private sector assesses and mitigates political risk. 

Tamara Banbury is a cyborg researcher and master’s candidate in Legal Studies at Carleton. Tamara researches cyborgs, body augmentation, and data security. She has a chip implant embedded in her hand and has presented on cyborgs at several comic conventions, academic conferences, and body hacking conventions. Cyborg Rights!

 Davina Basse is an MA candidate at the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University. Her research focuses on German-Russian relations, the security relationship between the EU and NATO, and European security policies in relation to North America and the Arctic.

Nicole Beier obtained her BA (Hons.) in Human Rights from Carleton University and is pursuing a Masters of Public Policy and Administration. She is currently working in the Policy and Results Branch at Infrastructure Canada and is a Board Member for the Canadian Research Institute for the Advancement of Women.

Jacqueline Chapman is a PhD Candidate in the Fish Ecology and Conservation Physiology Laboratory at Carleton University. Jacqueline has experience working in fisheries across Canada with numerous user groups including commercial and subsistence fishers, researchers, and managers. She has been working in the Arctic since 2015 and is a research assistant with the Towards a Sustainable Fishery for Nunavummiut project in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut.

Nicolas Corbeil holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Calgary. He is presently a second-year Master’s student at the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University. He specialises in Intelligence Studies and has performed research in Radicalisation and Counterterrorism. He recently participated in a summer institute on the History of British intelligence offered by King’s College London.

Alex Dauncey-Elwood is a second-year Master’s student in the Department of Political Science and recently finished her field research in Denmark on high skilled migration recruitment and retention practices, specifically focusing on international students. Alex has previously worked within the international education sector and for the BC Legislative Assembly.

Jamie Desautels is in the Masters of Public Policy and Administration program and has a background in Nutrition and Food Security. Jamie joined the Towards a Sustainable Fishery for Nunavummiut project in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut team in fall 2018 and hopes to continue researching policies influencing food insecurity in the arctic.

Her research interest includes immigration and citizenship, labor market mobility and the intersection of gender with immigration and labor policies. Prior to joining Carleton, Charles worked as a Policy Analyst for the Ontario Ministry of Education on minority language policy.

Taylor Green is a second year PhD student in the Department of Political Science at Carleton University. His current research focuses on technology, progress, and modernity with an emphasis on German Idealism. His other areas of interest include modern political thought and Canadian politics.

Leonard Halladay is pursing the collaborative PhD through the Department of Political Science and Institute of Political Economy. His research brings political theory to bear on practices of governance and relations of power, with particular attention to the relationship between rights discourses and the distribution of social surplus.

Bridget Healy is a first-year Master’s student in the European Union studies stream at the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS). Her work focuses on immigration comparative immigration policies in the EU, Canada and the United States for highly-skilled
workers. Previously, Bridget studied legal and procedural barriers for foreign entrepreneurship and urban development in the Greater Boston Area and currently works in immigration research and consulting in the private sector.

He focuses his studies on the role of language requirements and language policies in the field of migration. He has completed internships at the UNHCR, the Immigration and Refugee Board, and the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.

Keelia LaFreniere obtained an undergraduate degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering at Carleton University in 2017. She continues her studies at Carleton with the undertaking of a Master’s of Applied Science degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering and Policy, and will begin a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in Fall 2019.

Jennifer Lee is a second-year Master’s student at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, specializing in international economic policy with a strong interest in international affairs and economic issues. She received the Mitacs Globalink Research Award for her project “Managing Talent Migration for Innovation and Growth: The Case of Israel”.

William Little is a second year PhD student in the Department of Political Science at Carleton University. His work focuses on the development of liberal conceptions of the relationship between the individual and the state from the early modern to the contemporary period.

John McNally has experience working on corporate sustainability and strategy in the private, public and third sector. He is completing a Masters of Sustainable Energy Policy at Carleton University, and is currently employed as a policy analyst at Environment and Climate Change Canada. John was a research assistant with the Towards a Sustainable Fishery for Nunavummiut project in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut in 2017/18.

Felix Mercure is currently completing his Masters in Sustainable Energy Policy at Carleton University. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Ottawa. Felix has been working with remote and northern Indigenous communities since 2012 from both the private and public sector.

Nick Milne-Walasek (BA, MA, PhD) has spent the last eight years teaching English literature at the University of Ottawa as an adjunct, and is now enrolled in the first year of a Master of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton. His research focuses jointly on heritage policy and the development of international happiness indexes.

Juanita Molano (BComm) is in her first year of Carleton’s Master of Public Policy and Administration. She previously majored in International Business and minored in Political Science at Concordia. She has 8 years of administrative experience, with 5 as a member of the Support Staff at UOttawa in a unionized position.

Rumya Nithiananthan is a currently a Master’s of International Affairs candidate at the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) in the International Organizations and Global Policy (IOGP) stream. She completed her Bachelor’s of Arts Honours degree in Political Science at Carleton, with a double minor in French and Spanish. Her research interests include: learning about Canada and China’s role in climate change; supporting domestic clean tech development, gender and health as well as climate change-related infectious diseases.

William O’Connell is a PhD Student at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. His research focuses on global financial regulation, economic integration and the political economy of high-income countries.

Lauren Phillips is enrolled in Carleton’s Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership program after 15 years with the Ronald McDonald House London supporting pediatric patients and their families. She is exploring two passions: the incorporation of creative projects in pediatric and family healing, and the role of Canadian policy in overlooking youth volunteerism.

Alyssa Schenk is a second year doctoral student in the School of Social Work at Carleton University following the completion of her MSW at the University of Windsor.  Her research focuses on second-generation immigrant Canadian youth and experiences of cultural identity and cultural performance.

Noah Schwartz (BA; MSc) is a PhD candidate currently studying Political Science with a specialization in Public Policy. His research looks at how collective actors mobilize memory for political purposes, with a specific focus on firearms policy. His research interests include the politics of memory, firearms policy and American Politics.

Aaron Service is a PhD student in the Department of Political Science at Carleton University. His research interests surround German Idealist thinkers Friedrich Nietzsche and Martin Heidegger, and concepts such as temporality, metaphysics and the mind. His latest project looks to assess the political dimensions of Graham Harman’s object-oriented ontology.

Oana Spinu holds a MA in Sustainable Energy Policy from Carleton, a Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies from Concordia, and a BSc with Distinction in Biology and Environmental Science from McGill. She’s worked in the Arctic since 2004 and is currently the Senior Energy Policy Advisor at Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami.
