Carleton University is mourning the loss of Carleton alumnus and honourary degree recipient Sulley Gariba. Sulley passed away on April 27 at the age of 62 in Accra, Ghana due to complications from COVID-19. In addition to his work on behalf of developing countries—and Ghana in particular—Sulley served as Ghana’s high commissioner to Canada from 2015 to 2017. He received an honourary degree from Carleton in 2014, which was introduced by his friend and colleague, Carleton Prof. Ted Jackson. Ted recently wrote a tribute to Sulley for the Ottawa Citizen, which appeared on May 19. Read the tribute here.
