But after a year on another campus, she was eager for new opportunities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI heard about PAPM and how you could personalize your experience and I realized that\u2019s what I wanted to do,\u201d says Keene. \u201cWith the specializations options and co-ops, I could tailor it to what I wanted to learn.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keene chose to specialize in Communication Technology and Regulation. Her favourite classes included political communications and internet governance, which offered practical learning that enriched her co-op assignments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"not-prose cu-quote cu-component-spacing\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe co-op experience was absolutely fantastic. I worked on project development at Canadian Border Services and social analytics for a private company. I also joined the policy analysis team at Ontario\u2019s Ministry of Education and worked on strategic communications for the Chief Public Health Officer of Canada.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>While she was busy with classes and co-ops, one of Keene\u2019s favourite parts of Carleton was Sock \u2018n\u2019 Buskin, Carleton\u2019s theatre group, where she served as an actor, director, and board member. That led to her involvement in community theatre groups as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI highly recommend getting involved on and off campus. It made my university experience even better,\u201d says Keene.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As she prepares for her first job as a business systems analyst, Keene is grateful for the breadth of knowledge she\u2019s gained in PAPM.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t go wrong with those foundational core skills of being able to communicate, write, research, collaborate and meet deadlines,\u201d says Keene. \u201cI\u2019m very grateful for how this unexpected adventure turned out.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Growing up east of Toronto, Lindsey Keene imagined she\u2019d stay in the GTA for university.
