One award will be given each year when warranted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fpga\/about\/excellence-awards\/\">FPGA Excellence Awards<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n                            <\/header>\n\n                    <\/div>\n\n            <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"criteria-for-award\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Criteria for Award<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The award will be granted on the basis of some combination of <em>leadership<\/em>, <em>innovation<\/em>, or <em>impact<\/em> in the area of EDIR. Illustrative examples include but are not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>creating resources to support inclusive, anti-oppressive teaching and learning spaces;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>planning, facilitating, or hosting programming that enhances understanding of EDIR issues;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>redesigning a course or curriculum to incorporate perspectives, knowledges, and pedagogies from historically marginalized communities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>leading programs to improve access, enhance supports, or close gaps for members of equity-deserving groups;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>creating or sustaining partnerships with community organizations representing historically marginalized communities for the purposes of the co-creation and\/or communication of knowledge, outreach, or capacity building;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a track record of mentoring students from equity-deserving groups; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>other meaningful EDIR activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Contributions within FPGA as well as towards university-, discipline-, or profession-wide initiatives will be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"applications\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates must self-apply. Chairs\/Directors and colleagues are encouraged to approach a faculty member or group of faculty to express their support and to encourage their application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"application-package\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Package<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>current curriculum vitae for each applicant;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cover letter outlining the contribution of the applicant(s)\u2019s body of activity towards equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation (EDIR);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>optional letter of support from one colleague within Carleton University who is familiar with the work of the candidate;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a portfolio of supporting evidence (including, but not limited to, documentation of programs and initiatives, evidence of impact\u2014qualitative or quantitative\u2014or testimonials and media coverage).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-25\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fpga\/equity-and-inclusion-excellence-award-application-form\/\">Apply Now<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"award-recognition\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Award Recognition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The recipient(s) of the award will receive a $1,000 taxable cash award (to be divided among recipients if the award is granted to a group) and a framed certificate. They will also be featured in a Faculty profile online and on social media to highlight their achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"procedures-and-selection-committee\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procedures and Selection Committee<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants should use the application submission form on the ODFPGA website to upload their materials. <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Completed application packages must be received by Wednesday, March 18, 2026<\/strong><strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selection committee for the Equity &amp; Inclusion Excellence Award is chaired by the Associate Dean, Equity and Inclusion, and makes its recommendations to the Dean. The award committee will normally consist of up to 4 FPGA faculty members, including at least one past award winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Please note that since the Office of the Dean is the sponsor of these awards, faculty and professional staff working in the Office of the Dean are not eligible for these awards nor are they able to provide nominations or letters of support for others.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Past winners are eligible to re-apply five years after receipt of their last award.
