Recipients must demonstrate financial need and an interest in diplomacy, political economy, international relations and/or political science. Application is required. Established in 2025 by Nadia Theodore BA/02, MA/04 in memory of her colleague and former Canadian diplomat Collenette Jonelle (C.J.) Scott.

The contributions of Black individuals to diplomacy, political economy, political science, and international relations have long been underrepresented, leading to a lack of their perspectives in global policy and leadership. Addressing these disparities requires both increased financial support and intentional inclusion efforts. Many Black students face financial barriers that limit their educational and career opportunities, hindering their potential in these fields. By expanding support systems and actively encouraging Black students to pursue careers in these disciplines, we can foster greater diversity in views and excellence in academia, politics, and diplomacy—ultimately enriching society as a whole.

General Eligibility Criteria

Black students enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program within the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs

Demonstrated financial need

Demonstrated interest in diplomacy, political economy, international relations and/or political science.

Student Application

The application period is now closed.

Terms and Eligibility Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Associate Dean (Equity and Inclusion) of the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs to a Black undergraduate student entering or continuing in any degree program within the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs.
