Congratulations to Dr. Evelyn Maeder who recently received a SSHRC insight development grant. She will be investigating the influence of race salience on juror decision making in Canada.  Race salience refers to the prominence of racial issues in a trial, and while its effects on jurors has received some attention in the American literature, it has not been studied in Canada.  This will be the first study to investigate the influence of victim race in this context, and multiple target races will also be examined to expand our understanding of the influence of race salience in criminal trials.
