James is a Master of Sustainability Student at the University of Sydney with a passion for tackling complex social, cultural and environmental problems. For the past year he has worked at Sydney Olympic Park investigating and implementing reductions in resource use at the Park’s sports venues, the single most significant energy users in the precinct. He has previously spent time in the remote mining town of Jabiru in the beautiful Kakadu National Park, working to balance the interests of mining, tourism and indigenous cultural practices in partnership with the Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation. As part of the Free Range Program he will be researching the involvement of local Sami people in cultural, social and environmental decision making for resource projects around Storuman in northern Sweden.
