Co-op and exchange opportunities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Students enrolled in the French BA (General, Honours or Combined Honours) have the opportunity to spend a term abroad in an exchange program. Learn more about your eligibility here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For students in a Honours program, it is also possible to enrol in Carleton Co-Op education program while studying French. Learn more about eligibility criteria here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working on a Professor\u2019s Research Project<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Several of our Faculty members have ongoing research projects in French literature or French linguistics supported by federal research grants. In that context, contracts for research assistantships are offered on a regular basis to students in our programs. These types of contracts are managed directly by faculty members so don\u2019t hesitate to let your professors know if it is something that you would be interested in.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton University Research Opportunity Program (CUROP)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Each year, as part of the Carleton University Research Opportunity Program (CUROP)<\/a>, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is hosting summer undergraduate research internships. Under supervision of a faculty member, each student participant will design their own research project and complete it over the summer. Students will receive a stipend over the course of the summer.  The expectation is that the research project undertaken will constitute a full-time commitment for 16 weeks from May to August. If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity in French, consult don\u2019t hesitate to reach out to your professors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work-Study Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The work-study program<\/a> offers part-time, paid, on-campus employment to eligible undergraduate students attending Carleton. The program offers students the opportunity to earn money while leaning, to develop workplace knowledge and skills, and explore how their academic studies translate to career possibilities. The Department of French has participated several times in this program. Opportunities for the school years are opened in early September<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students as Partners Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Students as Partners Program (SaPP) <\/a>offers faculty, instructors, contract instructors and learning support staff the opportunity to provide a paid work experience to undergraduate students interested in teaching innovation, with funding provided by Teaching and Learning Services. Through SaPP, and collaboration with students, Carleton can support the implementation of innovative teaching practices and develop our classrooms to meet the needs of learners. The projects funded through SaPP provide an opportunity for students to contribute to the academic directions of the projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In French, the SaPP program has successfully been used to create new innovative content for some FREN courses, providing a valuable teaching design experience to our students partners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
