Mariya Nasim is a 4th year honours student a Carleton University who is striving to complete her B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in forensics. She enrolled in Carleton in 2018 with an unwavering interest in forensics that she fostered since an early age through true-crime documentaries and her aunt who works alongside the Ottawa Police with abused children.
Research: Mariya is currently working under Dr. Shelley Brown in the Gender and Crime Lab to complete her undergraduate honours thesis.
Future Goals: She plans to pursue a master’s and Ph.D. in forensic psychology and has a great interest in the forensic topic of sexual offenders, particularly pedophilia. She wishes to become a professor on the topic whilst working clinically on the side.
