Contract Instructor (CI) Opportunities in the Early and Late Summer 2021 Terms
DGES invites applications from members of the CUPE 4600-2 bargaining unit and other interested persons to teach courses in geography, environmental studies, or geomatics, as a contract instructor, during the Summer 2021 terms. The specific courses requiring CI’s are listed below, and calendar course descriptions are linked to the course numbers. We welcome inquiries on how these courses fit into our programs’ learning objectives, and this will be a topic of discussion between potential instructors and the departmental Chair.
The University may require that all or part of these courses be delivered remotely, including online.
A Masters degree in Geography, Geomatics, or Environmental Studies, or a related discipline, is the minimum requirement to be considered for this position. Previous work or research experience in the subject area is required; demonstrated evidence or potential for teaching excellence is required; previous teaching experience in the subject area will be considered an asset. CI stipends are $7,453 per 0.5 credit course (all courses in this posting are 0.5 credit courses).

Incumbency in any course
Note: 15.3(a) of the CA: “When applying to classes for which they have incumbency, applicants shall not be required to (re)submit documentation beyond their updated CV.”
Review of applications and hiring decisions will be made in accordance with the CUPE4600 (Unit 2) Collective Agreement, Article 16- Hiring, Incumbency & Seniority.

All positions are subject to budgetary approval.
Course scheduling is not known at this time. When it is, we will make all efforts possible to accommodate CI schedule constraints. Due to the short turnaround time we will have for such requests, it would be appreciated if applicants could include any firm constraints in their application materials.
