Fraser had a remarkable and distinguished career at Carleton University, leaving an indelible mark through his significant contributions that extended until the end of his life. Along with other pioneers in the field, he started moving digital cartography and geographic information science forward in the 1960s. He made significant contributions to the field for the rest of his life.&nbsp; He received numerous awards for these contributions as a Canadian scholar, including the Killam Prize (2014) and the Order of Canada (2021).
