In collaboration with Professor Rosemary Cairns Way, Madam Justice Giovanna Toscano Roccamo, aims to research the extent to which juries presently reflect the demographics of Canadian society and observe <em>Charter <\/em>values. A particular interest would involve a careful identification and segmentation of the areas from which names are assembled into the jury pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Requirements &#8211; students who are familiar with human geographical mapping, ideally with a background in census data and demographics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assets &#8211; a student with some GIS or Arc skills or with mapping software, who can develop maps, graphs, charts etc. Hopefully, such a student will be able to use the census data to highlight trends in the areas that juror lists are culled from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When &#8211; 10 hours a week over 8 weeks at the rate commensurate with the student\u2019s level of education. The student\u2019s work is to be finished by January 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested students should forward a copy of their resume to the attention of Valerie Akujobi (valakujobi@gmail.com) and briefly state in a paragraph their suitability for this role.
