\n In Memoriam: Professor Emeritus John Tunbridge\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies mourns the passing of <\/span>John Tunbridge<\/span>.<\/span> John <\/span>was<\/span> a graduate of St. John\u2019s College<\/span> (1964)<\/span>, Cambridge <\/span>(1968) <\/span>and received his Ph.D. from Bristol University<\/span> (1971)<\/span>. He joined Carleton in 1969 and <\/span>undertook<\/span> visiting teaching commitments in Australia, the UK and South Africa. He <\/span>co-authored<\/span> The Tourist-Historic City (Elsevier, London, 2000) and Dissonant Heritage (<\/span>Wiley, Chichester<\/span>,<\/span> 1996)<\/span>.<\/span> His <\/span>research concerned the various dimensions of the geography of heritage.<\/span><\/a> John retired from the department July 1<\/span><\/span>st<\/span><\/span>, 2008.
