As part of the 2023 spring convocation ceremonies, Carleton University bestowed seven honorary degrees to remarkable individuals for their inspiring accomplishments and service to society. This included Dr. Gray Merriam<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>professor emeritus at Carleton University who taught and directed graduate students in the fields of population and landscape ecology. Gray Merriam was awarded an honorary doctorate in recognition of outstanding contributions to establishing and promoting the field of Landscape Ecology through teaching, research and outreach.<\/p>\n

GLEL director Dr. Lenore Fahrig recieved the honorary title of \u201cGray Merriam Chair in Landscape Ecology\u201d, in 2023, to note the importance of Gray\u2019s contributions to landscape ecology at Carleton University.<\/span><\/p>\n
