About the Program

The Global Academy, in partnership with Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) at Carleton University, designs and offers professional development programs in teaching and learning, specifically for post-secondary institutions.

These programs have a demonstrated impact on teacher behavior and practice and are designed to further develop an understanding of current pedagogical frameworks and enhance teaching skills. Several institutions in Canada and internationally have already adopted these programs in support of their institutional goals related to teaching and learning.

Course Content

Duration: 15-days

Sightseeing visits: Visit to Canada’s parliament (and other Ottawa-based museums, etc.)


Day 1 Arrival – Shuttle pick-up at airport and drop-off
Day 2 Planning effective instructions, exploring teaching methodologies
Days 3 & 4 Weekend – Free Time
Day 5 Building effective assessment practices
Day 6 E-content development skills for online teaching
Day 7 MOOCs/Online course formation skills
Day 8 Integrating various aspects of technology into courses
Day 9 Site Visit – Ottawa based company
Days 10 & 11  Weekend – Free Time
Day 12 Managing the dynamics of both small and large classes
Day 13 Addressing issues of student diversity
Day 14 Examining issues around the evaluation of classroom teaching
Day 15 Departure – Hotel Pick-up and airport drop-off


Upon successful completion of the internship, students will receive a certificate of completion from the Global Academy at Carleton University.

Program Fee

Fee for this program, including accommodations, is approximately $3,750.00. Without accommodations, the program is $2,750.00.
