However, the best advice for you will depend on your individual situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our immigration advising team members are Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs). RCICs are licensed to practice by <a href=\"https:\/\/college-ic.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"when-to-contact-us\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to Contact Us<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope you will contact the GO-ISSO if you need help making an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or for questions about your immigration status in Canada. You should definitely contact us in the following situations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>IRCC has requested additional documents for your application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your study permit has expired.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You want to take a break or are required to take a break from studying (not enrol for one or more terms).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are thinking of withdrawing from courses. Please see the GO-ISSO <strong>before making registration changes<\/strong>, so we can advise you on immigration consequences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are not sure if you can work or how much you can work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You need a study permit extension and you won\u2019t finish your program by the completion date on your original admissions letter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"prepare-to-meet-an-advisor\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prepare to Meet an Advisor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Get the most out of your consultation with a GO-ISSO immigration advisor by being prepared to provide information about yourself. The advisor may need to see the following documents.&nbsp;<em>We recommend that you show digital versions,&nbsp;<\/em>even if you are visiting the GO- ISSO in-person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study permit \u2013 current and any that have expired<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work permit \u2013 current and any that have expired<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Temporary resident visa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The advisor may also need to see your immigration application materials, screenshots of your application portal, and any communications you have received from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. They may ask about your Canadian immigration history, accompanying family members, and your short- and long-term goals related to remaining in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your documents will not be shared beyond the GO-ISSO immigration advising team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"you-can-connect-with-us-in-various-ways\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">You can connect with us in various ways<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the GO-ISSO immigration advising team are available in-person on the 4th floor of the MacOdrum Library: &nbsp;Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to answer questions and get you connected to services and supports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most afternoons Monday to Friday (starting at 1:00 p.m.) an immigration advisor will be available see students on a walk-in basis on the 4th floor of MacOdrum Library. However, to avoid long wait-times, we encourage you use these alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:immigration.advising@carleton.ca\">immigration.advising@carleton.ca<\/a>. Most questions can be answered quickly and in detail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/go-isso\/request-a-meeting-with-an-isso-immigration-advisor\/\">Request a morning appointment with an advisor using our online form<\/a>. You may indicate your preference for day, time, in-person or Microsoft Teams. We will try to accommodate. Note that there may be more availability for Teams meetings. These include detailed application guides and videos. All international students are strongly encouraged to complete the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.carleton.ca\/d2l\/home\/158306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Study Permit Secrets<\/a>&nbsp;<\/em>Brightspace course shortly after their arrival at Carleton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"virtual-information-sessions\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Virtual Information Sessions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our team hosts various information sessions on immigration issues. On a regular basis we offer drop-in Immigration Q&amp;As, presentations on Post-Graduation Work Permits, and an overview of Permanent Resident Pathways for international
