There is truly something for everyone. Additionally, there was a lot less assessment (e.g. only one midterm assignment and one final assignment). The location was incredible, and it was really easy to get it set up, but I still had my own space and kitchen. It was easy to find housing in student residence as exchange students are guaranteed a spot. I would recommend staying there and not trying to find external housing as the price is reasonable and it\u2019s a really good way to meet people. They have almost exclusively apartment style residences so it\u2019s as if you rented an apartment.&#8221; &#8211; <em class=\"myprefix-text-italic\">Full Year 2024\/2025, Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Science and Practice<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUofE had guaranteed accommodation for exchange students, so I stayed there. They had good housing support staff but the meal plan only provided two meals a day. Housing is also a little out of the way but is well connected with busses.\u201d \u2013\u00a0<em>Full Year 2023\/2024, Bachelor of Arts, Linguistics<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI lived in student accommodation, apartment style. I was very happy with my decision. However, without a UK bank account I couldn\u2019t set up an e-sim for my phone so instead got a month to month physical sim card from a corner store. It was super easy to set up and then cancel, and very inexpensive.&#8221;  &#8211; <em class=\"myprefix-text-italic\">Full Year 2024\/2025, Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Science and Practice<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor my cell phone I used giffgaff. I ordered early enough that they sent me a free sim to my home in Canada and then I brought that overseas with me and swapped it out still in the airport. Highly recommend giffgaff \u2013 the app is very user friendly, prices are really good, and there are lots of options. For my banking, I used the Bank of Scotland.\u201d \u2013\u00a0<em>Full Year 2023\/2024, Bachelor of Arts, Linguistics<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI just submitted an online form with the bank of Scotland. Or you could just walk into any branch. The hiking there is incredible and so different from what we have here in Canada.&#8221; &#8211; <em class=\"myprefix-text-italic\">Full Year 2024\/2025, Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Science and Practice<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlanes have limited luggage allowances so packing light is a must \u2013 to pack all my clothes for a trip (plus towels because I stayed in hostels) I used a packing cube to compress all my clothes down, it worked really well for me. Free walking tours are great \u2013 they\u2019re not actually free, they\u2019re tip-based, but its really helpful to get the lay of the land in a new place and you also get to know some history. Do your research before you go somewhere \u2013 and plan your clothes for the weather as well.
