Approaches to Coding (NVivo)

November 6, 2020 at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Location:BigBlueButton
Audience:Current Students

Analyzing and sorting large amounts of unstructured text or multimedia data can be difficult. NVivo is a software package for qualitative data analysis that can help you bring order to what may seem like chaos. You can keep track of all data associated with your academic projects, code your data, create models to help organize your research, run queries on your coded data, and create charts and reports for sharing with others . . . and it’s available at Carleton! Find out more about NVivo and availability/licensing at Carleton here.

“Coding” is a way of organizing all the references to a specific concept, theme, person, place, or other idea into one code. The way you approach coding may vary, depending on methodology and data. Come find out about the tools that NVivo offers for different approaches. These workshops are for current Carleton students, faculty, and staff.

All graduate students are welcome. If you are a TA, this session counts toward voluntary paid training hours, provided that you are working as a TA in the term when the training takes place.
